Steam Network Training course

Is your knowledge of steam sufficient? Would you like to reduce your steam consumption by 18%? Is corrosion a problem? Is waterhammer a problem?

1GESTRA CANADA and SUMMIT VALVE & CONTROLS offer you

  • simplification of your steam system
  • improved efficiency of your system
  • energy savings
  • problem solving

Summary

The purpose of this training course is to assist the steam user (and system designer) in mastering the operation of his or her steam system. Materials covered include components of a steam system, deaeration, waterhammer, maintenance and diagnosis, energy savings, air make-up heaters, heat exchangers, boiler components and controls, steam condensate open and closed systems. Practical training techniques combined with Gestra Canada's "State of the art" full demonstration lab with transparent equipment, will help students grasp the workings of steam.

Goals

To acquire the knowledge necessary to understand steam behavior
  • learn how to use steam tables
  • learn the relation between pressure, temperature and energy

To simplify component choice
  • fairly evaluate all concepts in the industry
  • build up confidence
  • learn to avoid pitfalls
  • select the right equipment
To better manage steam systems
  • learn methods in energy saving
  • reduce water make-up
  • reduce corrosion
  • improve components performance
  • improve production quality
  • protect environment

Steam networks training courses in laboratories with transparent equipment

Gestra training equips the steam user with working knowledge to understand the behavior of steam and condensate within a steam network.  After the course, students are able to effectively diagnose system problems and take corrective action for energy conservation and performance enhancement.  People who attend this course typically comment on the great worth and quick payback of the knowledge they gained.  One recent attendant from a petroleum refinery had this comment:  “The Gestra course was one of the best courses I have attended in 10 years.”  He went on to comment that his only regret was that he had not taken the course 10 years earlier.
