In 2013, a mining customer in BC installed RocketPlates (by Special Alloy Fabricators) downstream of pinch valves that modulate flow on their column flotation cells.
These custom-engineered plates were designed to create backpressure, allowing the pinch valves to remain in a ‘more open’ position (reducing wear) and eliminating the problematic ‘pulsing’ issue.
The result? A significant reduction in pinch valve maintenance and fewer sleeve replacements!
Now, after 11 years of flawless operation, the RocketPlates were inspected for the first time and, as the photo shows, exhibit almost no wear.
Impressed by their remarkable durability, the customer reinstalled the RocketPlates, with no plans to check them until the mid-2030’s! 🤯
