It’s a big claim from our partners at Special Alloy Fabricators, and the assembly below is a great example of how they back it up.
The Problem: Many oil sands control valve applications handle erosive slurry at low inlet pressures, creating a tough balance between wear resistance and flow capacity. SlurryFlo’s flagship C1 trim is a strong fit for many applications, but some require a higher full-open Cv. Increasing the line size to accommodate a larger valve can become costly and impractical.‍
The Solution: SAF approached this challenge differently. Their patented ArmaSpool, typically installed downstream for piping protection, was moved upstream to increase the flow path by 2” ahead of the valve. Combined with a new “max-flow” trim, the assembly delivers a significantly higher full-open Cv without sacrificing the materials or geometry required for demanding slurry service.
