What's New?

Looking Into the… Future? 🔎

One of our slurry valve specialists may have taken a wrong turn; no tailings here, just hydrogen!

Oilsands upgraders use hydrogen to break down the heavy hydrocarbons in bitumen. And where does that hydrogen come from? They make it, using a process called steam methane reforming.

Inside this furnace, natural gas and steam flow through catalyst-filled tubes at 900°C and over 3 bar. An endothermic reaction produces hydrogen, carbon monoxide, and a bit of carbon dioxide. Downstream, the CO reacts with steam to generate even more hydrogen.

Add carbon capture, and you get low-emission, energy-dense Blue Hydrogen. It can power vehicles or be blended with natural gas to reduce CO₂ from power plants and home heating.

Clean energy, real impact. Need valves or instrumentation for a hydrogen project? You know who to call. 😉
